I work in collaboration with English departments and other teachers in the humanities to strengthen both practice and vision:
Practice:
Developing and integrating a robust poetry teaching practice
Designing theme-based, inquiry-driven courses
Cultivating community and student connoisseurship* by distributing discourse and expertise
Developing rigorous and authentic ways to measure student progress and outcomes
Building collaborative relationships with students and families
Curating content and developing curricula

Vision:
Establishing a departmental mission statement
Clarifying and reinvigorating teacher identity, mission, and practice
Contributing to research on friendship studies, teaching poetry, and mindfulness and the writing process
Reflecting on and filling gaps in our own teacher education
Working effectively with student teachers, and building a legacy for the next generation
